Easier Mass Updates For business users

Reduce the time you spend on master data management and mass updates by up to 90%. Let the business users do the updates themselves, in a safe and controlled way, and at a fraction of the time you spend today. Let IT people and M3 Superusers focus on their already substantial workload, and reduce your dependency on outside consultants.

Safe, controlled, and Easy Mass Updates

The core of this tool consists of templates that let you work with business concepts like “customers”, “items”, “price lists” and “purchase orders”. There is no need to think about how these are spread out over different programs, tables and API:s in M3. We present them to you as you would think about them if you weren’t an M3 black belt, as logical blocks of business information.

Based on these templates you can create specific mass update scenarios. For example, you can create a scenario for changing the categorization of items, another for updating item measurements, and so forth. Each scenario only allows changing those parts that are relevant for that specific scenario, nothing more. So from the 300+ fields you might possibly want to change for items you might create many scenarios, each one aimed at a specific need for updating data. Each of these scenarios might get allocated to different people, depending on who has the best knowledge for the task in question.

We no longer have to rely on outside consultants for costly manual bulk updates or on further overloading our own M3 experts when we need to update large amounts of data in M3.

Approaching Mass Updates In a different way

Traditional M3 mass update solutions tend to fall into one of two categories. The first type uses M3 Web Services (or API:s) to pull data into an Excel spreadsheet and lets the user freely edit and then send the data back to the Web Service. The second type uses specific Excel templates for each type of update. Both have a number of significant disadvantages.

You are usually limited to update data that is output from one API call only, or you have to embed logic into each Excel template. Since most data objects in M3, like customers and items, require several API:s for updating them you may have to perform many separate updates to achieve the result you want. In addition, data isn’t validated properly so only someone with detailed knowledge of M3 can safely run such a solution. Choosing what data and how much of it someone can work on is also not really possible unless that logic is embedded in each Excel template.
We have solved the problem of Mass Updates in new way. Gone are the days of being restricted to editing what can be accessed through a single API call in Excel or having to create a different Excel template for each thing you want to update. You get full flexibility for the user while not sacrificing security since you have full control over who can update what.

Share and delegate update work

You can involve your colleagues in the work, either as reviewers or as full participants.

Full audit trails for updates

All individual updates are registered in an audit log so you can easily review all performed updates.

Familiar Excel-like user experience

Working in the solution feels familiar because the user experience is so close to normal Excel usage.

Roll Back mistakes

If a mistake is made you can reverse an update you or someone else made.

Feel secure when updating data

All edits are validated to ensure that they conform to m3 business rules and data formats.

Schedule updates

If you need an update to be performed at a specific date and time you can schedule it. This helps with updates that relate to organizational changes or for example the start of a new financial year.
